Entering additions to established families
After the last changes were made to the site, I can no longer find a button to pull up a family group to make changes and additions. I can find buttons for editing individuals but not a family. Help!
To Edit a Family group, navigate to one of the parents. Scroll down the page to locate the Family area. In that area is an "Edit" link. It is directly across from the "Last Modified" subhead. See image:
How Do I Add Photographs?
Great News! I am getting a lot of requests lately for instructions for adding photographs to people in our Heycuz Family Tree. Adding photos to the Family Tree is done in a different area than adding photographs to the Family Album. Here's a description that I've been sending to people who have asked. I decided to post it here so others can do it too. I hope the instructions below don't seem too hard, cause it's really not. I just tried to dot every i and cross my Ts, so it's a little overly thorough.
Adding Photographs to a Person or Family.
First, sign in. You have to be signed in to edit people's files. Click on the first tab in the menu, "Our Families." Use the Search feature to locate a person you'd like to add a photograph for. On the page that comes up, click on the Edit link (last link on the black bar menu). If you want to add the photo to the whole family go to the next step. If you want to add the photo to an individual click the "Add Media" link (now, the last link on the black bar menu) and skip the next paragraph.

Why Can't I Upload a Gedcom?
QUESTION: I am not able to upload and updated GEDCOM file of my Family Tree. I get the following: Error uploading - File type "ged" Not permitted, is there a reason for this or are GEDCOMS not allowed to be uploaded?
It is true that you cannot upload a gedcom. The problem that the server has in uploading gedcoms is that it over-writes people that are already there that have the same person-id number. If I'm person no. 1 and you're person no. 1, you would replace me. This would occur for every person with a matching ID number, and for every family that has a matching Family ID number. To prevent that from happening uploads are not permitted. However, if you send me the gedcom you want to submit, I can work around this by importing it into my genealogy program which will assign new person ID numbers and then I can upload it for you.
