What is this Heycuz Newsletter?

I've recently installed a new newsletter component on the website. Many of you have probably received an email notifying you that you subscribed with an option to opt-out if you don't want it. Some of you who registered may have noticed that there was a checkbox for this newsletter, or noticed in your user profile that you are subscribed to the newsletter.

Others haven't registered at heycuz at all and still received an email notification. You may be wondering how you subscribed when you did not click on anything or subscribe to anything. Well, if you have ever submitted information or if I ever entered information with you as the source, you are in the heycuz database. The installation of the component, saw that you were a source and added you to the newsletter subscription list. If you don't want to be on the list you can opt out by clicking on the link in that letter. Or, if you want to see one first, you can wait til you receive one of the newsletters and click on the unsubscribe link that will be at the end of every email.

I haven't completed a plan for what will be in the newsletter. I know most of you are busy, especially this time of year, and don't have a lot of time to read a lot of stuff in your mailbox, so I will keep them short. I plan to just list the recent changes to the database and maybe some links to the site, such as the daily birthday list. I don't know what else may be added but will gladly accept any advice or new stories from our members. I don't plan on sending out a lot of the newsletters. Perhaps just one a month.

The newsletters will also be available online to view, in case you'd prefer reading them on the site.

If you did not receive notification and want to make sure that you are subscribed to the newsletter, then go to "edit your profile" in the User menu on the left-hand side. (The user menu only appears if you are signed in). Click on the NEWSLETTER tab and you'll see a checkbox there. If it's checked you are already subscribed. If it's not and you want the newsletter then click on it and you will receive an email telling you that you are subscribed. If you have not received any email notification, but think you are subscribed then it may be that your service provider thinks this is junk or bulk mail and won't deliver it. If you are a Comcast or cable company subscriber like me, that's often the case. Other servers known to do this include yahoo and google mail. One easy way to solve that is to make sure that heycuz is listed in your address book. All the email from this site is from This email address is being protected from spambots.
