| Lampley Family Reunion in Jingo |
| 2009.04.05 23:16:56 | ||
|
Dear Cousins,
Sorry that this notice is a bit late coming to you, but hope that you have "saved the date" of Saturday, June 20, 2009, as I mentioned in last fall's recap of the 2008 gathering. Hope to see as many of the Lampleys and related cousins as possible this year too. Don't forget to bring your family histories, photographs, and any memorabilia of your line that you would like to share. For those of you who always attend...and for first-timers...remember that we always supply clean tables and chairs for your exhibits (as well as for the noon meal), or for spreading out your documents. We also will furnish ice, condiments, tableware (plates and utensils)...and the Fairview Recreation Center is famous for having clean restrooms, a big kitchen for heating up the goodies, a large comfortable, air conditioned meeting room, is completely handicapped accessible, with a large parking lot adjacent to the meeting room. So here is the information:
What: LAMPLEY FAMILY REUNION IN JINGO (the old name for the Fairview Community where most of the Lampleys and related families settled.
When: Saturday, June 20, 2009
Time: 10:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Where: Fairview Recreation Center, 2714 Fairview Blvd. (Highway 100), Fairview, TN
Kindly bring with you: a couple of covered dishes (meats, veggies, desserts), and whatever non-alcoholic beverage you prefer.
If you are a first-timer and need more information or directions, please

me.
We will be looking forward to seeing you all, and especially any of the Cousins who will be attending for the first time, or those of you who haven't been able to get to Fairview in a while.
Sincerely,
Camille Allen

| The Recession Hits Heycuz |
| 2009.02.27 05:12:24 | ||
|
It's probably no surprise to you that the recession has hit my pocketbook. So, I am going to be forced to cut back in spending, including cutting down the cost of this website. Over the next few days, I will be moving heycuz to a different server. Chances are everything will go well and you won't be inconvenienced too much.You may notice in the next few days that you won't be able to log in temporarily or some sections are missing temporarily from the website. You may not notice anything at all, because once the move is complete, the url and the links will be exactly the same. But, if you do happen to come on to this site and can't log in, or can't find a document, or access the family tree, you should assume that I am working on transferring files and not be alarmed. I apologize for the inconvenience. Your cuz, April Tags: Hits: 161 | Read more... |

| Confederate Soldiers' Final Resting Places |
| 2008.12.22 20:17:21 | ||
|
If you're ancestors were in the Civil War and from Williamson County, Tennessee you will definitely be interested in "Confederate Soldiers of Williamson County, TN Final Resting Places". I received my copy as a Christmas present several years ago and constantly use it as a invaluable reference. Research for the book shows that a quarter of the soldiers enlisted in Confederate service from Williamson County died in the war: 279 were killed in battle, 167 died in hospitals and camps of disease and 112 died in Union prisons.
The 167-page book by Dennis Lampley includes more than 100 photos of county veterans and is available in both hard and soft covers.
Proceeds from book sales will go toward funding historical markers for Civil War sites in the county.
To get your copy or for more information, please visit the Sons of Confederate Veterans website at http://www.tennessee-scv.org/camp2034/camp_2034_burial_book.htm

| New Tidwell Book by Wayne Bradford! |
| 2008.11.13 01:10:52 | ||
|
Cousin Wayne Bradford has done it again! This time he's teamed up with noted Williamson County historian Dorothy Sullivan Jones and written an excellent book called "Descendants of Thompson Jefferson Tidwell and Tennessee Catherine Anglin." Like his first book, "Descendants of William M. Sullivan and Artemese Green," this book not only gives the family lines, but is chalk full of family stories, interesting facts, and never-before-seen photographs. One of the features that I most appreciate is that, the authors give information on all the conflicting evidence available on each descendant, guiding the reader toward the most likely fact. Some of the other features include census notes, notes from obituaries, birth or delayed birth certificates, death certificates, and other newspaper articles. And, my favorite part, of course, is the beautiful photographs collected from all the different branches of the family.
The book is 365 pages, 250 plus pictures. It is bound with a wire spiral binding. To get your copy, send $32 to Wayne Bradford, 311 Mayfield Drive, Smyrna, TN 37167. Only a few copies were printed, so you'd better grab 'em while the grabbing is good. They'd be perfect Christmas presents; hint, hint. Oh, and a little bird told me that there are a few copies left of G. Wayne Bradford's first book, "William M. Sullivan and Artemese E. Green." If you want that one, send $60 to the address above. Both prices, include shipping and handling. Tags: Hits: 193 | Read more... |

| The Heritage of Dickson County, TN |
| 2008.11.12 21:18:34 | ||
|
The Heritage of Dickson County, TN book is absolutely a must for anyone researching ancestors in the area. Their website still has the book listed so I'm guessing you can still get it. There are so many surnames of interest in this book, that'll take me hours to write them all. Of course, there's Sullivan's, Givens, Whites, Beards, Bradfords, well, most of the pioneers in the area are mentioned. Because the content came from submissions there is also a lot of opportunities to make break-throughs on those brick walls. It's definitely something to put on your Christmas list, but I'd advise you to hurry before they all sell out. Tags: Hits: 165 | Read more... |

We're so proud of our cousin Sgt. Jeffrey Adams. He recently was awarded the Purple Heart Medal at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington after he was injured in a road-side attack in Afghanistan when the unit he was hit by a improvised explosive device. Jeff and four others were injured. "My main goal now is to get back to a normal life which is possible, I know," Jeff told the military online news. The complete article is
